To address rural mobility in Missouri, the Missouri DOT replaced 31 rural bridges in northern Missouri, completing the last of the bridges in late 2023. The Fixing Access to Rural Missouri (FARM) Bridge Program Bridge Replacement project was a design-build project that modernized 31 weight-restricted, timber pile and one-lane bridges, upgrading them to two-lane bridges more conducive to two-way traffic. As part of the project team, Hg Consult provided engineering and design services for seven three-span, steel-wide flange beam bridges and one single-span prestressed concrete girder structure. The steel beam bridges were designed as simple span structures for dead load and continuous for live load.
